‘Serious negotiations have once again been undermined,” FM Al Busaidi regrets.

On Saturday, Oman’s foreign minister, Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, who had been the chief mediator in U.S.-Iran negotiations, lamented that the option of peace had once again been “undermined” and urged Washington not to be drawn further into a war “that is not yours.”

Al Busaidi said he was “dismayed” by the bombardment launched on Saturday morning by Israel and the United States against Iran and regretted that “active and serious negotiations have once again been undermined.”

“Neither U.S. interests nor the global cause of peace will be served by this. And I pray for the innocents who will suffer. I urge the U.S. not to be dragged further. This is not your war,” he said.

Just two days ago, al Busaidi participated in Geneva in the third round of negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at ending the possibility of military escalation.

At the time, the Omani minister said “significant progress” had been achieved in those meetings and indicated that negotiations would resume soon after the delegations reported in detail on the discussions upon returning to their respective capitals. In that regard, a “technical-level” meeting had been scheduled for next week in Vienna.

On Saturday, Iranian authorities confirmed that U.S.-Israeli bombardment of a primary school in the city of Minab left 53 girls dead and 48 students wounded.

Shortly before, the deputy governor of Hormozgan Province, Ahmad Nafisi, reported the morning attack and said rescue teams were at the school, which has 170 students, assisting the wounded and carrying out debris removal operations.
